The standing process should proceed from the furthest point on the roof working back towards the stock pile. The first truss must be securely braced, straight and plumb at the panel points on the top and bottom chords. The accuracy and security of the placement of the first truss will govern the accuracy and security of the subsequent trusses. The standing operation should proceed ensuring each truss is securely fixed in position with fixings secured at each panel point on the top and bottom chords.

The temporary fixings may consist of temporary or permanent longitudinal ties or proprietary brand spacers. Where apex of trusses cannot be reached from existing work platforms, another platform 2 planks — min mm wide must be erected approx. The platform may be erected by securing a bearer to web members at approx. Work for this platform must be done from a temporary platform erected on the bottom chord of the installed and secured trusses. As the platform below the apex will be more than mm above the floor, the longitudinal tie being attached will act as an effective guardrail.

This platform and the previously constructed platforms must be used for the installation of speed bracing. Note: the longitudinal tie at the apex should be solid timber to provide adequate compressive strength to give full effect to the function of the diagonal speed bracing. If truss erection includes roof battens, the roof battens will provide this strength. Column to be erected by lifting using crane with suitable capacity lifting belts. Column should be tied with rope to guide and place into correct location.

Column height and measurements to be ensured before tightening of bolts. Base plate bolts to be properly tightened. Crane belt to be removed after ensuring the column fixing is rigid. Scaffold to be arranged to work at truss height safely. The part number of truss to be identified and shifting to correct location. Before lifting part number and position of truss to be ensured. The assembled truss to be lifted for installation using cranes with suitable capacity lifting belts.

Ensure truss should be free from any tie, bond or weld with other objects before lift. Place the belt on truss where the load will distribute equally on both sides.

Tie the rope on both ends to guide and position the truss in correct location. Lift the truss through crane and place at actual fixing location. People movement should be stopped in truss lifting area and barricading all around lifting area. After ensuring level and measurements full weld to be done at connection.

Crane belt to be removed after ensuring welding and proper temporary tie support.
